The BMW M3 E90 represents a unique and rare facet of the M3 range: it is the only four-door M3 equipped with an atmospheric V8 engine, which makes it a real collector's item for pure mechanical enthusiasts. Derived from the 3 series E90, it combines the practicality of a four-place saloon with the performance of a sports car known for the track.
Under its hood is the S65B40, a 4.0 liter V8 at high speed, derived from the V10 block of the M5 E60. This engine develops 420 ch at 8 300 tr/min and 400 Nm of torque at 3 900 tr/min, offering instant response and an explosive character. It is a typical M character engine, capable of delivering more than 8,400 rpm, with a metallic and enveloping sound that is unique in BMW's history.
With transmission, the M3 E90 is available in a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DCT robotized gearbox, offering exceptionally fast passing. The power is transmitted exclusively to the front wheels, with a limited-gliss M differential that ensures exemplary motorcycling, as well on route as on the circuit.
Its chassis, supplied by the BMW M department, includes a specific aluminum suspension, a 50:50 balance, and highly precise steering. The whole thing is completed by a reinforced braking system and an MDrive mode allowing you to adjust the engine response, steering and electronic aids.
From an aesthetic point of view, the M3 E90 is distinguished by its wide wings, pumped-up hood with central air vent, M rear-view mirrors and quadruple emblazoned trim strips. In contrast to the E92 coupe, it retains a more discreet allure, almost “sleeper”, but always muscular.
Inside, you'll find a BMW-typical environment: clean, ergonomic and driver-oriented, with a few sporty touches such as the M seats, the epic steering wheel, and the discreet M logos.
Today, the BMW M3 E90 is considered to be the last purely atmospheric M3 on four wheels, combining inimitable sound, exceptional ride and balanced handling. A perfect blend of brute performance and functional elegance.
