The ultra-lightweight alloy wheels – wrapped with bespoke, track-focused Pirelli P ZERO™ Trofeo R tyres. And the minimal Alcantara® trimmed interior. But the roof on this hard top convertible supercar changes the game. Bends the rules. This utterly focused hardcore McLaren 600LT Convertible adds a whole new dimension. At the touch of a button, the elements rush in and your senses are overwhelmed. And not only by sun and fresh air. Now you’re even closer to the heart of this extraordinary car: the 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged McLaren engine and its trademark top-exit exhaust system. It’s a noise that will stay with you. The meticulously honed and sculpted profile of the McLaren Longtail Spider has been formed by a clear purpose. To increase aerodynamic efficiency and channel air for cooling. This is a true Longtail… with a rear that’s 47mm longer than the 570S. It’s made this way to increase downforce. Which transforms stability in fast corners. Menacing and purposeful. Each curve, edge and surface is shaped to perform. Lower the roof and you can savour the exhilaration of open top driving taken to new heights. But roof up or roof down… the the McLaren 600LT Spider is always making maximum use of airflow. Come rain or shine. On road or track.
Built on the exceptional carbon MonoCell II monocoque ‘tub’, this track focused convertible supercar is incredibly strong. But it is also light… extraordinarily light. In the pursuit of shaving weight off the car our engineers left no nut or bolt unturned. They found weight savings right across the car. From the wheels to the seats. And from the Lightweight Alcantara® used to cover many of the surfaces to the touchscreen infotainment system that removes the need for heavier switches. We even removed the carpets and door pockets.The result – put quite simply – is the lightest car in its class.
The McLaren 600LT Spider shares the same pumped-up 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the 600LT. Which means its power is boosted with an extra 30PS and 20Nm of torque. It also comes with the same super-fast Inertia Push gearshifts. The same Active Dynamics for pin-sharp handling. Not to mention the same powerful, responsive braking system – which you’ll also find in the McLaren 720S. The result? A fast and light convertible supercar, that takes just 2.9 seconds to reach 62mph – the same as the 600LT. And achieves an incredible 201mph (324kph) top speed.
