The A 45S AMG is the high-performance variant of the third generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class codenamed W176 that debuted for the 2013 model year. Powered by one of the world's strongest four-cylinder engines in production, it was designed to compete against the fastest hot hatches on the market. The A 45 was offered as an entry-level model to AMG-tuned performance cars alongside its coupe and crossover counterparts, the CLA 45 AMG and GLA 45 AMG respectively.

It received a facelift for the 2016 model year that changed its name to Mercedes-AMG A 45 4MATIC.[2] and ended in production in 2018. A successor based on the W177 fourth generation A-Class was introduced in 2019.
