The S281 is a range of modified Ford Mustangs by Saleen, with the 2000 model being a derivate of the fourth generation Mustang, and a preceded model - the Saleen S281 E - derived from the fifth generation Mustang.

Based on the Mustang GT, it has a 4.6 liter single overhead camshaft V8 engine with a roots-type supercharger that increases power to 365 hp (272 kW). Other notable upgrades include a full body kit, bespoke suspension, 18 inch wheels and close-ratio gearbox.

It’s no secret that Saleen’s creations are, for the most part, based on existing Ford models and then honed to perfection as trackday weapons. Saleen’s had a long time to perfect this art, and the S281’s unflappable handling (despite retaining the ancient rear live axle setup most other have abandoned) speaks to their mastery. No drag-only proposition, the S281 demolishes the skidpad and is perfectly content blasting through corners.
