SMP Formula 4 is a car racing series in the FIA Formula 4 category, organized by the Russian motorsport program SMP Racing and the Finnish Koiranen GP racing team. The championship was announced in July 2014, and its first season took place in 2015. It is held with the support of the Russian Automobile Federation. The organizers view it as a series that serves as a bridge between karting and open-wheel racing.
Drivers who are at least 15 years old and hold a national racing license are eligible to compete in the SMP Formula 4. Legally, the series has national status, but in reality it is international: it is open not only to representatives of Russian motorsports, but also to racers from Northern European countries—the Baltic States and Scandinavia.
