The idea behind this machine is to handle classic 300m runs, but also longer runs, and even attempt to break speed records like those at Bonneville (see BOOOM BSF Edition).
BOOOM features 5 unique characteristics: two 12,000 hp engines, extreme aerodynamic downforce with a central diffuser, rear wheels with auxetic rims, a spherical front wheel acting as a counterweight, and finally, an ejectable survival cockpit.

Description of Dr BOOOM Top Fuel Dragster:

The idea behind this machine is to handle classic 300m runs, but also longer runs, and even attempt to break speed records like those at Bonneville (see BOOOM BSF Edition).
BOOOM features 5 unique characteristics: two 12,000 hp engines, extreme aerodynamic downforce with a central diffuser, rear wheels with auxetic rims, a spherical front wheel acting as a counterweight, and finally, an ejectable survival cockpit.
// Powertrain:
BOOOM is powered by two massive 12,000 hp engines. The carbon injector hats located on top of the engine blocks have been redesigned to be more aerodynamic and generate minimal drag at high speed. A single custom-built V8 displaces over 8 liters, produces up to 12,000 hp at 8,000 rpm, delivers nearly 10,000 N·m of torque, and consumes 60 liters of nitromethane in under 4 seconds. Not to mention, the engine must be partially rebuilt after every run and completely rebuilt after just 3 to 5 runs!!! Absolutely insane.
// Aerodynamics:
BOOOM’s chassis is built around a massive central diffuser located between the front wheel and the survival cell. This huge carbon component generates colossal downforce at high speed, helping reduce the risk of wheelies while minimizing drag.
// Rear wheels:
The rear wheels are unlike any other dragster wheels, featuring auxetic rims. Here, traditional tire sidewalls are replaced by a titanium mesh capable of deforming under acceleration and expanding under the centrifugal forces experienced at launch and during the run. This system replicates the behavior of a conventional wheel while allowing greater adjustability and eliminating the risk of tire blowouts.
// Front wheel:
BOOOM’s single front wheel is probably the wildest idea in this project—a spherical wheel with magnetic steering that acts as a counterweight to prevent the dragster from flipping or taking off during wheelies at speeds over 500 km/h.
To achieve this, the front wheel is intentionally heavier than typical Top Fuel wheels, helping rebalance the dragster’s weight distribution toward the center of the machine.
This added mass also improves control over the magnetic steering system, giving the dragster better maneuverability.
In fact, this system allows the wheel to be completely detached from the chassis, held in place by an electromagnetic field. This eliminates friction and allows the vehicle to almost pivot on itself when being moved between runs or off-track.
// Cockpit:
Carbon-kevlar cockpit, internal chrome-molybdenum tubular structure, steering wheel with integrated controls, solid-fuel cylinders for the ejection system located beneath the seat, integrated parachute, tiny forward viewing slots, and extended vision assisted by cameras…
In short, everything is designed to combine performance, extreme sensations, and advanced safety.
BOOOM’s ejectable cockpit is ready to launch into the air at several hundred km/h in the event of a crash during record attempts.
