The 2005 Fiesta ST is the second car officially developed by \u201cTEAM RS\u201d and the third car to feature the \u201cSport Technology\u201d brand, also known as \u201cST.\u201d It is nicknamed \u201cST150\u201d for the ST label and has about 150 hp.<\/p>\n
In 2002, Ford unveiled the \u201cRallyeConcept\u201d at the Birmingham Auto Show. Based on the three-door version of the new Fiesta, this model represented Ford\u2019s vision of a future rally version of the Fiesta, capable of competing in the Super 1600 championship at the national and international levels.
\nPowered by a high-performance version of Ford\u2019s 1.6-liter Duratec 16-valve engine, the Ford RallyeConcept produced over 200 hp and was equipped with a Hewland six-speed sequential transmission and racing suspension.<\/p>\n
In 2003, \u201cTEAM RS\u201d replaced the \u201cSVE\u201d team in Europe, following the consolidation of high-performance vehicles and motorsports activities.
\nThe first \u201cST\u201d was developed in 1996 with the Mondeo ST200. The second ST was the Focus ST170 in 2002, the result of a collaboration between the European Ford Performance Team and the North American \u201cSVT\u201d team.<\/p>\n
In 2004, Ford unveiled the new \u201cFiesta RS Concept\u201d at the Geneva Motor Show alongside the new Fiesta ST and S.
\nThe \u201cRS Concept\u201d was a high-performance car with a modified body inspired by the WRC. The \u201cRS Concept\u201d delivered 180 hp to the front wheels and had a 0 to 100 km\/h time of around 7 seconds.
\nHowever, Ford hasn\u2019t produced a Fiesta RS since the Fiesta RS1800 in 1992, and didn\u2019t produce this one after all.<\/p>\n
Ford, however, produced a high-performance version of the Fiesta\u2014not under the \u201cRS\u201d designation, but under the \u201cST\u201d designation\u2014using the same team (TEAM RS) that developed the Focus RS.
\nVarious catchphrases were used to market the Fiesta ST, such as \u201cFeel the power,\u201d \u201cA sporting heritage,\u201d and \u201cToo bad there\u2019s only one driver\u2019s seat.\u201d.
\nThe goal with this car is to have fun on the road or race on a track with the same car.<\/p>\n
The ST150 uses a 2.0 DURATEC HE engine co-developed with Mazda. It is a 147 hp inline-4 engine with DOHC and a specific intake design that delivers torque at both low and high RPMs. It is the same engine found in the Mondeo Duratec HE and the Focus Duratec HE.<\/p>\n
