The Subaru 360, nicknamed the \u201cladybug,\u201d has remained virtually unchanged since the day it went on sale and has been beloved by many over the years. In 1955, Japan\u2019s Ministry of International Trade and Industry urged automakers to produce a \u201cpeople\u2019s car,\u201d and Fuji Heavy Industries, drawing on some of its experience as Nakajima Airplane (as the company was known during World War II), developed the Subaru 360. Despite its appearance, four adults can sit comfortably inside, and the car is extremely economical and fun to drive. Originally released in 1958, it appeared in numerous variants, such as the Young SS version, a cargo version, etc., and with different engine options (356 cc EK31, 356 cc EK32, 423 cc EK51).
\nThe first car race, the Japanese Grand Prix, was held in 1963, and the Subaru 360 competed in the C-I class (touring cars with engines of 400cc or less). Saburo, driving car number 5, finished third; Akio, driving car number 7, finished fifth; and Teruo, driving car number 6, finished sixth.
