In March 2022, Polestar unveiled the stunning Polestar O2 electric roadster concept in Los Angeles, showcasing their vision for a future electric sports car.
\nThe overwhelming positive response led to the announcement in August 2022 that this concept would go into production as the Polestar 6.<\/p>\n
A special “LA Concept Edition,” limited to 500 numbered units, was released shortly after, selling out in just one week.
\nWhile the official production launch is targeted for 2026, the Polestar 6 has already made dynamic appearances, including a “BST Concept” variant unveiled at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.<\/p>\n
The Polestar 6 maintains the minimalist and aerodynamic design language established by the Polestar Precept concept. It’s a sleek two-door, 2+2 hard-top convertible that aims to redefine the sports car for the electric era.
\nIts exterior design, influenced by aerospace aesthetics, features integrated rear lights that also function as aero blades, optimizing airflow without the need for extravagant wings or spoilers.<\/p>\n
The production version is expected to retain much of the concept’s striking visual appeal, including the distinctive “Sky” blue paint and light leather interior of the LA Concept Edition.
\nUnderpinning the Polestar 6 is Polestar’s bespoke bonded aluminum platform, which is also being developed for the Polestar 5.<\/p>\n
This advanced platform allows for exceptional stiffness and responsiveness while also enabling greater design flexibility and maintaining Polestar’s hallmark precision.
\nThe car will feature an 800-volt electric architecture, ensuring high-performance charging capabilities.<\/p>\n
The Polestar 6 is set to deliver exhilarating performance. It will feature a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain targeting an output of up to 650 kW (884 hp) and 900 Nm of torque.
\nThese figures are projected to enable a 0-100 km\/h sprint time of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km\/h. While official range figures are pending,<\/p>\n
Polestar is targeting a WLTP range of over 595 km.
