The Hennessey Venom GT is built on a heavily modified Lotus Exige chassis, driven by a 1000+ horsepower General Motors ‘LSX’ V8 engine, while also weighing only 2685 lb (1218 kg) thanks to carbonfiber bodywork and wheels.<\/p>\n
The LSX has been converted to a twin-turbo aspiration, and produces 1200 hp (895 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 1155 ft\u00b7lb (1566 N\u00b7m) at 4,400 rpm. It is mounted behind the driver as part of a mid-engine, rear wheel drive platform, and mated to a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission shared with the 2005 Ford GT.<\/p>\n
The Venom GT is built entirely out of a carbon fiber composite, resulting in a weight of 2685 lb (1218 kg), which results in a very high power-to-weight ratio of 985 hp (735 kW) per tonne.<\/p>\n
Driven by a powerful, high-displacement engine, the Venom GT exceeds in terms of straight-line performance. Off the line, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km\/h) in 2.5 seconds and 0 to 100 mph (161 km\/h) in 5.3 seconds, although its launch is affected by wheelspin with the traction control turned off. It has one of the highest top speeds in the Forza series, hitting up to a maximum of 270 mph (435 km\/h).<\/p>\n
The Venom GT may have handling issues due to moderate understeer around corners, although it overall turns more sharply than similar AWD-equipped cars.<\/p>\n
