The car is designed and built by BMW, in collaboration with Dallara, and is based of the Dallara P217 chassis. This car is eligible for use in the Le Mans Daytona hybrid (LMDh) class, LMH and GTP of the IMSA sanctioned WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. It made its racing debut at the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona, with team RLL Racing, running under the BMW Motorsports banner.
