The Hennessey Venom GT is built on a heavily modified Lotus Exige chassis, driven by a 1000+ horsepower General Motors 'LSX' V8 engine, while also weighing only 2685 lb (1218 kg) thanks to carbonfiber bodywork and wheels.

The LSX has been converted to a twin-turbo aspiration, and produces 1200 hp (895 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 1155 ft·lb (1566 N·m) at 4,400 rpm. It is mounted behind the driver as part of a mid-engine, rear wheel drive platform, and mated to a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission shared with the 2005 Ford GT.

The Venom GT is built entirely out of a carbon fiber composite, resulting in a weight of 2685 lb (1218 kg), which results in a very high power-to-weight ratio of 985 hp (735 kW) per tonne.

Driven by a powerful, high-displacement engine, the Venom GT exceeds in terms of straight-line performance.
