The RB11 features a distinctive and aerodynamic design, with a slim nose, narrow sidepods and a unique front wing that is shaped like a tuning fork. The car’s aerodynamics are further enhanced by a range of winglets, bargeboards and other appendages that generate a high level of downforce and stability.
Under the hood, the RB11 is powered by a Renault RE15 V6 engine, which delivers around 600 horsepower and is paired with an eight-speed gearbox. The car also features an advanced energy recovery system that captures and stores energy during braking and acceleration, and can deliver an additional boost of power to the engine when needed.
During the 2015 F1 season, the RB11 was driven by Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo and Russian driver Daniil Kvyat, who had been promoted from Red Bull’s junior team Toro Rosso. While the car was not as successful as its predecessor, the RB10, which had won the world championship in 2014, it still achieved three race victories and eight podium finishes, highlighting its competitiveness and reliability.
