The Alpine A424 is a Le Mans Daytona hybrid (LMDh) sports prototype racing car. It was designed by Automobiles Alpine and built by Oreca to compete in the Le Mans Hypercar class in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The car was unveiled as a prototype show car, named the A424_\u03b2, at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans.<\/p>\n
The A424 uses a hybrid powertrain, consisting of a Mecachrome V6 single turbocharged internal combustion engine and standardized hybrid drivetrain components. The car is built on the \u201cnext generation\u201d Oreca LMP2 chassis. The A424\u2019s engine is a heavily modified version of the Mecachrome V634 engine used in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.<\/p>\n
The car made its debut in the 2024 season. The A424 aims to replicate Alpine\u2019s famous 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans victory, targeting overall honours in the highly contested new Hypercar category of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
