“The first generation of Continental GT to drop the famous W12 engine.”
the spring of 2024, Bentley unveiled the latest iteration of its high-performance grand tourer, the Continental GT Speed, as a 2025 model year vehicle. This new generation marks a significant shift in powertrain, embracing a potent Ultra-Performance Hybrid system while retaining the luxurious character and striking design that have become synonymous with the Continental GT lineage.
While the overall silhouette remains familiar, echoing the elegant lines of its predecessors, the 2025 GT Speed introduces a redesigned front fascia featuring a distinctive single oval headlamp on each side, a departure from the traditional twin-lamp arrangement. This bold new look, inspired by a “tiger preparing to pounce,” is complemented by a dark tint matrix grille and dark tint detailing around the vehicle, exclusive to the Speed models. The rear also sees updates with new “slashed oval” tail lamps featuring smoke-effect lenses. A body-colored Styling Specification enhances the side sills, front splitter, and rear diffuser, lending a more muscular and planted stance.
The most significant change lies beneath the sculpted hood. The iconic W12 engine of previous GT Speed models has been replaced by an all-new Ultra-Performance Hybrid powertrain. This system pairs a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine with a powerful electric motor, resulting in a combined output of 771 bhp (782 PS) and a staggering 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. This potent combination allows the Continental GT Speed to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds) and reach a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). The hybrid system also offers an impressive electric-only driving range of approximately 50 miles (81 km) on the EU cycle, making it a surprisingly versatile everyday supercar.
Inside the meticulously crafted cabin, the 2025 Continental GT Speed continues to exemplify Bentley’s commitment to luxury and bespoke detailing. Exclusive “Speed” emblems adorn the treadplates, dashboard, and seat embroidery. The leather and Dinamica seats feature a unique Speed color split, while the doors showcase a new 3D diamond hide finish, adding a tactile and sporty feel. The standard Colour Specification allows for a wide array of hide and carpet color choices. Technology is also significantly upgraded, with a new 400-volt electrical architecture supporting advanced driver assistance systems and infotainment features. While the overall interior layout remains familiar, new wellness seat technology and air ionization further enhance passenger comfort. Notably, the luggage space is slightly reduced compared to previous non-hybrid models due to the integration of the battery pack.
The 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed represents a bold step forward, seamlessly blending exhilarating hybrid performance with the unparalleled luxury and craftsmanship expected of a Bentley grand tourer. It’s a statement of intent, redefining the definitive grand tourer for a new era.
