Now you’re even closer to the heart of this extraordinary car: the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged McLaren engine and its signature top-exit exhaust system. It’s a sound you’ll never forget. The meticulously honed and sculpted profile of the McLaren Longtail Spider was shaped by a clear purpose. To boost aerodynamic efficiency and channel air for cooling. This is a true Longtail… with a rear end that’s 47mm longer than the 570S. It’s designed this way to increase downforce, which enhances stability in fast corners. Menacing and purposeful. Every curve, edge, and surface is shaped for performance. Lower the roof, and you can savor the exhilaration of open-top driving taken to new heights. But whether the roof is up or down… the McLaren 600LT Spider always makes maximum use of airflow—come rain or shine, on the road or on the track.
Built on the exceptional carbon MonoCell II monocoque ‘tub,’ this track-focused convertible supercar is incredibly strong. But it is also light… extraordinarily light. In their quest to shave weight off the car, our engineers left no stone unturned. They found weight savings throughout the entire vehicle—from the wheels to the seats. And from the lightweight Alcantara® used to cover many of the surfaces to the touchscreen infotainment system that eliminates the need for heavier switches. We even removed the floor mats and door pockets. The result—to put it simply—is the lightest car in its class.
The McLaren 600LT Spider shares the same upgraded 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the 600LT. This means its power is boosted by an additional 30 PS and 20 Nm of torque. It also features the same super-fast Inertia Push gearshifts and the same Active Dynamics system for razor-sharp handling. Not to mention the same powerful, responsive braking system—which you’ll also find in the McLaren 720S. The result? A fast and lightweight convertible supercar that takes just 2.9 seconds to reach 62 mph—the same as the 600LT—and achieves an incredible top speed of 201 mph (324 kph).
