Alpine A424

The Alpine A424 is a Le Mans Daytona hybrid (LMDh) sports prototype racing car. It was designed by Automobiles Alpine and built by Oreca to compete in the Le Mans Hypercar class in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The car was unveiled as a prototype show car, named the A424_β, at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The A424 uses a hybrid powertrain, consisting of a Mecachrome V6 single turbocharged internal combustion engine and standardized hybrid drivetrain components. The car is built on the “next generation” Oreca LMP2 chassis. The A424’s engine is a heavily modified version of the Mecachrome V634 engine used in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

The car made its debut in the 2024 season. The A424 aims to replicate Alpine’s famous 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans victory, targeting overall honours in the highly contested new Hypercar category of the FIA World Endurance Championship. The car is managed by the Signatech team and has undergone extensive testing, including a full 30-hour endurance practice in Aragón to help replicate the gruelling conditions of round-the-clock racing.
