Born from Subaru’s decades of rally racing experience, the 2005 Impreza WRX STI marks the pinnacle of the brand’s performance lineup for the era. Known as the “Hawk Eye” to fans, this generation of STI blends aggressive design, advanced technology, and world-class all-wheel-drive performance into a formidable street and track machine.
Under the hood lies the legendary 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four (EJ207), producing 280 PS (276 hp) and 392 Nm (289 lb-ft) of torque — figures that push the limits of Japan’s voluntary horsepower cap. Paired with a close-ratio 6-speed manual and Subaru’s signature symmetrical AWD system with Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD), the car delivers razor-sharp handling and exceptional grip in all conditions.
The Version 9 features revised suspension tuning, a lightweight aluminum hood, large Brembo brakes, and iconic STI aero components, including the distinctive rear wing. Combined with a sophisticated intercooler water spray system and mechanical limited-slip differentials front and rear, it’s a machine built to conquer twisty backroads, racetracks, and rally stages alike.
A hallmark of Japan’s golden age of performance sedans, the WRX STI (GDB-F) remains a favorite among enthusiasts for its balance of daily usability and motorsport-bred thrills.
