The Tiguan has undergone generational updates since its inception. As of my last update in January 2022, there have been two primary generations: the first generation, produced from 2007 to 2017, and the second generation, which began production in 2016 and is ongoing.

The Tiguan is built on Volkswagen’s versatile MQB platform, which is also used in various other Volkswagen Group vehicles.

The Tiguan is available in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations, depending on the market and trim level. The five-seat version is more common, while the seven-seat version offers added versatility for families.

The Tiguan typically offers a range of gasoline (petrol) and diesel engine options, depending on the market. Engine sizes and power outputs may vary by region, but they generally offer a balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
